From the moment I met Wali and his beautiful bride for their pre-wedding shoot at Paddington Reservoir, I knew this wedding was going to be something truly memorable. Their warmth, connection, and love for tradition made every part of the journey an absolute joy to capture.
Pre-Wedding Session at Paddington Reservoir
We began with a relaxed pre-wedding photo session in one of Sydney’s most iconic urban spots – Paddington Reservoir Gardens. Wali and his bride dressed casually, allowing their natural chemistry to shine through. The stone archways, sun-dappled walkways, and lush greenery provided a romantic and cinematic backdrop. It was the perfect way to tell the story of their love in a more intimate, everyday setting before the grandeur of the big day.
Wedding Day Magic at La Perouse
Fast forward to the wedding day, and we headed to La Perouse for portraits before the reception. The wind was gentle, the skies dramatic, and the coastal cliffs created a breathtaking stage for their wedding photos. Wali’s traditional Afghan attire complemented the scenery beautifully, and the bride looked absolutely radiant.
A Celebration of Afghan Culture
From there, we made our way to the reception – and what a celebration it was!
The night was a stunning display of Afghan culture and tradition. The first dance was a showstopper, complete with dry ice fog swirling around the couple's feet and fireworks lighting up the dance floor, creating a magical moment no one will forget.
One of the highlights was the knife dance before the cake cutting – a playful and meaningful tradition where the knife is danced around by guests before it's finally handed to the bride and groom. It was fun, energetic, and full of laughter.
The cake cutting itself was another beautiful moment, surrounded by cheers and joy from family and friends.
